Frequently Asked Questions

Office Location

My office is located at 242 W. 30th St., Suite 602, between 7th and 8th Ave. I’m close to the B, D, F, M, N, Q, R, W subways lines at Herald Square; the N, R lines at Broadway and 28th; and, the 6 line at 28th and Park Ave.

Office Hours

I work Monday through Thursday and offer some early hour sessions as well as later evening sessions depending on the day.

How long do sessions take?

45 minutes for individual sessions and 55 minutes for couples sessions.

How much do you charge?

$200 for individual sessions, $250 for couples sessions.

Do you take insurance?

Yes, I am an in-network provider for Cigna.

If I want to do private pay, can you help me file with my insurance company?

I can help you to get reimbursement for some or most of my fee through your out-of-network insurance benefits.

Is there anyone you won’t see?

I don’t see young children in my practice mostly because of pragmatic office constraints. If you have a substance abuse problem or eating disorder and want to target that issue alone, I don’t have that specific expertise. What I often have success with is helping people who are grappling with these issues in the context of broader self and relational difficulties.

What do we actually do in session?

You will tell me what’s bothering you, and over the weeks and months I’ll begin to learn your life story and understand your ambitions and goals. I listen, try to understand and share my thoughts with you. Some people are rightly concerned that I’ll remain silent for extended periods of time. I think you’ll find that there will be a balance between periods where you are using most of the session time to share your thoughts and concerns and other times where you’ll see we will collaborate on ideas to help you feel better.

How long will I come to therapy?

This is a highly personal question. Some people find that shorter periods, say several months, helps them enough to “get back in the game.” My experience working with people has shown me that true, lasting change is achieved with longer commitments.

What modalities do you use?

I guess I would call myself a relational therapist generally and a relational self-psychologist more specifically. What does that mean? Really what it means is that being understood, achieving some self-awareness and taking some beginning steps towards change happens in the context of our therapeutic relationship.

Is it okay to show you pictures of my pets?

Please! I have two dogs and a cat and love animals, so bring it on
